Nice review at Dylan Review!

Be sure to check out this most excellent piece by my friend Dr. Annie Burkhart about the ‘74 tour recordings of Bob Dylan and The Band. Clink the image below for link to it.

Newspaper Record and Department Store Ads for Band Albums

I love to come across old newspaper ads that feature Band albums in them.  Some are from record stores, others might be from department stores that sold records.

Here are some recent ones that I came across and am happy to share here-

The Band in good company here with John Lennon!

Nice ad with "Cahoots."  I love the verbage, "The Band takes you back to the very first day you saw the light."

"Moondog Matinee" next to "Pinups" by David Bowie.

This one is my favorite of them all! "Look Out, Cleveland!" Ad from Cleveland the week they were to play on March 14, 1970.

Busey, Danko and Hudson!

In 1989,  actor/musician Gary Busey, Rick Danko and Garth Hudson played a string of west coast dates together.  Here's a cool ticket stub from their show at The Bacchanal in San Diego, courtesy of Chance Trewet!

Chance's father attended this show, and he shared this with me- "One of my Dad's favorite stories to tell when I was growing up was this show. Said there were breaks in the set where they could talk to the band, and had a cigarrette outside with Rick afterwards."

Here's some other cool Busey, Danko and Hudson news clippings:

Thank you Chance for sharing the ticket stub and story!

There is a Cripple Creek in Lake Charles, Louisiana - Kind of !

Now this is pretty fun! We all know and love the song.  The only "Cripple Creek" that I knew of in a physical sense, was/is the one in Colorado. Not anymore!

Say hello to Cripple Creed Road in Lake Charles, Lousiana!
Thank you, Google Street View!

Northern Lights Southern Cross 50th celebration all year long!

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the classic Band album "Northern Lights - Southern Cross," I'll be posting throughout the year about this.  Today, here are some images of this recording on a few different cassette releases as well as on 8-track!
